I have never reviewed a book on Amazon before but feel compelled to do so this time. Rumi gets 5 stars; the author gets 0 stars! I expected a book of Rumi's poetry, arranged in some fashion by time or topic. The titles of the chapters are intriguing, but the author uses this book for self-aggrandizement and to promote his own career. The reviews, international acclaim, and awards are for workshops that Gabriel leads professionally and have nothing to do with the content of this book, except perhaps incidentally.. That this book is self-published is not apparent from the presentation on the Amazon website. A reasonably good editor, would have suggested sections to expand and those to omit or cut back, to say nothing of correcting grammar and punctuation. A book designer would suggest separate fonts for Gabriel's text and for the quotations to make the quotes and Rumi poetry visually apparent. The chapter on mysticism is a hodge-podge of quotations from a variety of sources in what appears to be an outline of a talk that Gabriel might have given, but it is difficult to find the thread to make sense of it. I am keeping this book because it contains some of Rumi's poetry that I have not seen before. I'm sure that the mystic Rumi would agree that this book needs less of Gabriel and more of Rumi, who points to God and not to the self.Product details

Rumi as never seen before through the eyes of a mature author, poet and humanitarian - Gabriel Iqbal. Rumi Soul Healer can be read by anyone in search of inspiration and healing and we all need a lot of that. Beautifully written to bring into light coexistence and well-being on planet earth.
This book has been a beautiful companion. It has helped me heal via compassion and a perspective shift in my understanding of life's challenges. Especially the way Gabriel has explained the Principles of Life by Rumi is fascinating and powerful. I have shared this with my friends and family as they have been curious to know what has caused the positive and healing shift in my perception of life.

Wonderful book
This guy doesn't really know Rumi and is just trying to make a buck. He is a businessman and "lean management trainer" and should just remain one!! He is no Rumi expert!!
I love Rumi and this is a great introduction to him and his work.
A remarkable book that transcends the limitations of Rumi Translations and Renditions. Rumi is a complex topic with all the intricacies of the ups and downs, ebbs and flows of prose, poetry and flow. I have a number of favourite versions of Rumis translations and while each one of them holds its own status, I am pleased that Gabriel in his book has provided a different perspective about Mevlana Jallaludin Rumi, his life and works.
Rumi not only provides a new way of thinking, that in all fairness is not new, but also helps us slice our modern complicated lives and make sense of where true peace of mind resides, In all of Rumis words, his infallible love for his creator and beloved always stands out while still holding the ground for mystic lyrics that can set your soul free, I find Rumi Soul healer a very relevant name for this book as Rumis work is nothing but Soul healing after all.
I would highly recommend this book if you are looking at adding to your knowledge about Rumi or getting to know him from a different perspective. This book may also serve as an introduction if you are new to Rumi and would like to introduce yourself to his approach to mysticism.
